The mission ahead

We aim to provide medical assistance and care to un-owned street animals in Dehradun who have been affected by illness or injury. Our goal is to encourage the community to safeguard and advocate for the well-being of all animals through their rescue and recovery.

With an unwavering commitment to the protection, preservation, and improvement of animal lives in Dehradun, Animal Rights Portal was established. Our core belief is to create a topographically, ecologically, and socially conducive environment that enables animals to live fearlessly. Initially, our mission was to safeguard at least 100,000 animals, but our goals have since expanded. Over the next decade, we aspire to safeguard the lives of 500,000 animals. To achieve this, we have set the following objectives:

• To safeguard animals from sickness, abuse, and starvation.
• To provide a safe environment for proper feeding and medical care, thus serving animals with dedication.

Extend kindness to those who need it most

Our fundamental belief is that all animals deserve compassion and protection, regardless of their species, whether they are dogs, cows, or any other living being. We strive for a world where all animals are treated with respect for their intrinsic value. The rampant over-consumption and exploitation of animals have contributed significantly to the climate crisis and unimaginable animal suffering, compounding the global crisis we face today.

At our core, we rely on rescue as a crucial strategy to promptly alleviate animal suffering while promoting the protection of all animals. Through sharing the inspiring stories of their recovery and healing, we aim to ignite compassion and encourage individuals to take action to safeguard animal lives.

History of Animal Rights Portal

Dehradun's first shelter and gaushala for unowned animals was founded in 2017 by our family of founders. We began construction of the facility in a small village located on the Shimla bypass road, Dehradun, driven by our deep-rooted beliefs. It wasn't long before we realised the immense satisfaction that came with doing good.

As news of our efforts spread, our humble beginnings evolved into an overwhelming demand for our services, with over 100 rescue requests pouring in daily. Tens of thousands of animals have since been rescued and given a second chance at life, and our community's compassion has translated into meaningful action.

Animal Rights Portal has grown tremendously since its inception and now operates across three different locations, providing care and medical assistance to over 1700 unowned animals that have become ill or injured.

• Our first location, situated in Hasanpur village at Dehradun, comprises a leased property spread across 5 bighas with a capacity of 400 animals.
• Our second location in Sabhawala village at Dehradun, also spread across 5 bighas of leased property, has the capacity to accommodate 400 animals.
• Additionally, we operate in Shankri village at Bhaniyawala Dehradun, with a leased property of 10 bighas that can house up to 700 animals.
